Cambodia Expected Thailand Would Withdraw its Army After the 2nd Meeting.

Prah VihearOn August 18, 2008, Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relation Mr. Hor Namhong of Kingdom of Cambodia and Foreign Minister of Kingdom of Thailand Mr. Tech Bunak would open the 2nd meeting on tension at border area, especially Thailand sent its troop to intrude into Cambodia at Prea Vihea area for almost one month. Mr. Hor Namhong would meet Thai king to report this situation to the king as well. Last week, the Minister of Information and the government spokesman Mr. Khieu Kanharith said Thai Prime Minister Mr. Samak Sundaraved would plan to see Prea Vihea area, but real date hasn’t se yet. Although Mr. Khieu Kanharith didn’t mention whether or not Mr. Samak would love to visit Prea Vihea temple, but he added that Cambodia would welcome Mr. Samak if he wanted to visit Cambodian Prea Vihea temple. In 2006, the former Thai Prime Minister Mr. Taksin Siniwatra would plan to visit Khmer Prea Vihea temple, but his visiting plan was cancelled because he was deposed by military coup d`etat.
            Illegal invasion of Thai army into Cambodian territory has surprised all countries in the region and in the world and they insisted on peaceful resolution. On July 16, 2008, deployment of armed forces and preparation of artilleries, tanks and war planes for war making happened after UNESCO included Prea Vihea temple of Cambodia into World Heritage on July 7, 2008. Most of independent analysts said encroachment of Thailand on Cambodia because Thailand thought at it gained an advantage over Cambodia in both armed forces, ammunitions, advanced economy and more population of people.
            US president Mr. Jorge W Bush said in Bangkok on August 6, 2008, depute between Cambodia and Thailand should be solved peacefully and he hoped that both countries would be able to find this resolution. Mr. Bush stressed that America expected that it would continue good cooperation with ASEAN countries.

Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen asserted on August 6, 2008 that on behalf of himself as the former soldier, he was fed up with war because Cambodia had passed through several centuries of war, so Cambodia didn’t want to make war, but appealed to Thailand to withdraw its armed forces from Cambodian territory. Prime Minister stressed that making war was very easy, but ending war is very difficult and the war would harm both sides. Prime Minister Hun Sen blamed that the conflict caused by extremists of both countries; it caused by opposition party of Cambodia and that of Thailand.
